The Bowen Technique For Asthma

The Bowen Technique For Asthma is named after its innovator Tom Bowen, who developed the technique in the 50s and 60s.

What is the Bowen Technique?
Simply stated, the Bowen Technique resets the body to heal itself. It consists of a series of gentle moves, usually with just the thumb and finger, across muscles or tendons in a very gentle rolling motion. The moves are made on specific parts of the body, such as across muscle on either side of the spine, that triggers the bodyies natural responses to heal itself.

It is non-invasive, and so gentle that it is hard to believe anything is happening. It is not massage or manipulation.

How Can Bowen Help With Asthma?
The Bowen Technique is an extremely gentle, yet highly effective, technique to release tension in the breathing muscles, especially the diaphragm. But Bowen does not just act on the muscles to aid in asthma.

The Bowen Technique acts to rebalance the nervous system thereby allowing relaxation of muscles which have held long term stress and creates a balanced chemical composition in the body. By rebalancing the nervous system it can also affect the way your body responds to allergens.

Bowen is exceptionally successful in the treatment of asthma and other respiratory conditions for people of all ages.

Bowen and Asthma Attacks

An asthmatic attack is usually caused by the breathing muscles and diaphragm going into increasing spasm. The triggers for such an attack vary, such as a cold or illness; an allergy such as those causing hay fever; or other lung related diseases.

The Bowen Release Move is a highly effective, downwards movement that releases the diaphragm from spasm and an immediate release of air from the lungs is achieved.
